Former Minister Damodar Rout Suffers Caridac Arrest, Critical

Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: Former Minister and senior leader of Biju Janta Dal (BJD) Damodar Rout's condition is serious after he suffered a cardiac arrest this morning. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, informed his son Sambit Routray. He is 82-year-old.

The veteran leader has a career spanning over 40 years and has been elected seven times to the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLS). 

Born on July 2, 1942 he is an eminent leader in Odisha politics. 

He has served Odisha as a member of Janata Dal, Janata Party, BJD and BJP. 

He served as a Minister at different times between1979 and 2017 holding different portfolios in the State Cabinet.
